Helping the Built Environment Understand, Embrace and Utilise New Media

Members of the tCn team work for organisations within various sectors of the built environment. They offer social media expertise, advice and support and are passionate about using new technology to improve our industry. They include marketing/PR experts, web specialists, consultants and media partners.

Ryan Briggs - Founder

Ryan uses new media technology to help connect and promote organisations in the UK Built Environment. An ex-professional football player with West Ham, he founded tCn in 2009 and constantly works with the team to find ways tCn can benefit its members.

An experienced marketing, PR and communications professional with specific expertise in business-to-business work in the UK architecture, engineering and construction sectors, Paul has also spent over 10 years in the ICT sector, specialising in software-as-a-service and Web 2.0.

Jason Leonard OBE - Founding Member

A carpenter before having a successful career within professional rugby union, Jason is involved with various business ventures, charities and other causes. A founder member of tCn, he promotes the concept via his vast network of contacts.

Geoff Wilkinson - Training Advisor - Building Control/Fire Safety


Geoff is dually qualified as both a chartered surveyor and as a fire engineer, and is a qualified manager (holding MCMI since 2000). With over 25 years experience in the construction industry, Geoff is currently spokesperson for the Association of Consulting Approved Inspectors, and vice-chairman of the Building Control & Standards Faculty of the CIOB. Geoff is involved with the tCn's Legislation community.

Su Butcher - Training Advisor - Social Media for Architects


For the last 12 years Su has been practice manager to several UK architects' firms. As client liaison is a key part of her work, Su is confident explaining design to lay people. With her wide knowledge of systems, she can help businesses improve efficiency and focus on their objectives. She is also an active and productive user of social media for professional networking.

Rupert Bates - Opinion Leader - Private Housing

Rupert is a property writer covering both the UK and overseas markets - from affordable homes to country estates. He is editorial director of Showhouse magazine, www.whathouse.co.uk and www.homesoverseasmagazine.com, as well as property correspondent of The Field magazine and a property and sports writer for The Daily Telegraph. Rupert gives punchy comment on housebuilding industry issues - praising the good, damning the bad, ignoring the ugly - all with a light dusting of humour. Rupert also manages tCn's private housing community.

Kirstie Colledge - Opinion Leader - Marketing 

Kirstie is a director of construction PR & digital marketing communications firm SMPR - (Simply Marcomms Ltd) and is a committee member of CIMCIG (the Chartered Institute of Marketing's Construction Industry Group). Recognising the importance and power of social media her team offer introductions into networking platforms including tCn and Twitter via free online webinars.

Pritesh Patel - Opinion Leader - Social Media for Product Manufacturers

Working with construction marketing agency Pauley Creative, Pritesh is a respected digital marketing executive with excellent comms strategy, campaign management and measurement experience. He also has a sweet hint of digital/online marketing knowledge including web design, web analytics/campaign effectiveness, e-marketing, PPC, SEO and Social Media.

Chrissi McCarthy - Opinion Leader - Diversity


Chrissi spent over 10 years in the construction industry, as a site manager and setting-out engineer, before starting Constructing Equality. Immensely passionate about construction, both in terms of its effect on communities and on employees, she undertook a Masters in Promoting Equality and Managing Diversity. An Ambassador and board member of the Chartered Institute of Building, Chrissi has now started tCn's official community for Equality and Diversity.

Derek Mynott - Opinion Leader - Surveying 

Managing Director of the GF Partnership Limited, having undertaken a management buyout in 2007. 30 years within construction starting with Bovis Construction as a management trainee where he trained to become a quantity surveyor. Having worked for contractors throughout his career, he is FRICS and FCIOB qualified and acts as an RICS assessor. Derek also helped the tCn team create the official Surveying community.

Rob is a director at CareerStructure, a leading online job board and career advice resource for those in the built environment. He is a commitee member of the Lighthouse charity and involved in tCn's Next Generation community offering students and graduates career opportunities and guidance.

Martin Brown - Training Advisor - Social Media for FM/Tender Management/PQQ's

Martin is an experienced improvement practitioner. 

Former project manager and improvement director with built environment, construction and facilities management experience in the UK and Worldwide.  

Now, an advocate for innovation and improvement, primarily within the built environment, providing outstanding consultation, support, facilitation, training and coaching.

Paul Weston - Training Advisor - Social Media for Social Housing/Housing Associations

Paul has worked in the Construction industry for nearly 18 years, starting off as a trainee estimator and working for the likes of Chorus, Overbury, and Apex.  Now owner of Essex Social Media Ltd, Paul works with the tCn team offering social media training, management and consulting specifically for social housing companies and housing associations.

Kirsten Henson - Training Advisor - Sustainability

Kirsten Henson holds a Masters in Engineering and Philosophy in Engineering for Sustainability Development from Cambridge University.

She has contributed to a number of master planning projects, providing technical advice on setting sustainability strategy, implementation and delivery.

Her most notable contribution to date is on the London 2012 Olympic Park where her technical knowledge and ability to engage and inspire significantly influenced the planning, design and construction of the infrastructure and venues.  She has now become an official consultant to the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP).

Kirsten now offers Sustainability training to organisations connected to the Built Environment.

Jules Quested Williams - Training Partner

Jules created the 'Built For' group as a dedicated outsourced Marketing, Sales, Training and Research opportunity for clients with a built environment, building products or construction focus.

Implementation follows a strategic planning process, the result of which is the dissemination of knowledge throughout an entire business.

 

tCn have partnered with Built for Training for all training services, bookings and event management.
