Single ply roofing specialist Sarnafil is proud to have contributed to a charitable project in Scotland that has since won a top design award.

A refurbished vessel that houses charity the Vine Trust’s education centre, permanently moored in Leith, has won the project’s architect, Archial, the Glasgow Institute of Architect’s Design Award in the education category.

The Vine Trust has converted two ex-Royal Navy fleet tenders into medical ships, providing primary healthcare to some 100,000 people each year living along the Peruvian Amazon, who otherwise would have no medical or dental healthcare. When it approached Archial to turn a disused MOD fuel vessel into an educational teaching base to make Scottish schoolchildren aware of the plight of their Peruvian peers, Sarnafil was one the suppliers asked to contribute to the charitable venture.

In total, 120 sq m of Sarnafil single ply membrane in S327-12EL Light Grey was installed by Sarnafil registered contractor Lenaghen Roofing Services. The roof build-up also features tapered insulation from Rockwool, which introduced Sarnafil to the project. Not only is the completed Sarnafil roofing keeping the award-winning project protected from the elements, but it also benefits from an independently assessed BBA-certified life expectancy, which states a life in ‘excess of’ 40 years in its opinion.

For further information on Sarnafil’s products and services, call 01603 748985, email sarnafilroofing@uk.sika.com or visit www.challengeustoday.co.uk.
